Siang Chung Li was born about 550 AD and grew up a large, rugged man who loved fighting and wine. One day an ugly old beggar told him to straighten up or else. Angrily attacking the old cripple, he soon found himself being beaten severely. So it was that he became a disciple of the old man who was none other than Li Tie Kuai.
Even after achieving immortality by meditating for nine years on Hua Shan (mountain), he still loved wine. He reportedly had to kill a Siberian tiger that began eating him while he was in a drunken stupor.
In the Eight Immortals fighting system he represents solidness, strength and stability. The forms attacks use heavy foot-stomping to generate waves of power bouncing up from the ground.
Also known as Chung-li Ch'uan or ZHONG Li Quan, he is represented as a military man who possesses the Elixer of Life and carries a peach and a fan.
