NameHsing-I 12 Animal Forms
ChineseHsing I Se Ar Hsing
Rank2nd Black
DescriptionEleven forms have been developed using Hsing-I principles to imitate the special fighting characteristics of twelve different animals: dragon, tiger, monkey, horse, turtle, chicken, sparrow, pe-ke-fo (purple coot ?), snake, ostrich, eagle/bear (combined). Each of these forms are performed on alternate sides several times one direction, then the other direction, then back to the beginning position. The Dragon flies down to attack. The Tiger claws down as it advances. The Monkey jumps around, smacking its target with its hands. The Horse blocks out, then jumps over the fence to attack. The Turtle snaps its head out to bite. The Chicken pecks and blocks with its wings. The Sparrow hops forward and hits out to the sides. The Pe-ke-fo moves in close to attack inside. The Snake coils to the side then shoots out. The Ostrich runs with its long legs and spins its wings. The eagles claws snap down (to break the wolfs neck, Grand Master The says), then the bears paw strikes up with its whole body.
